Pathways Receives Grant to Fund School Age Care Program

Pathways for Children has received a $10,000 grant from the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation (MDRT) to support the Pathways Moves Program.

The MDRT Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, The Premier Association of Financial Professionals ®. Through its global grants program, the MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities around the globe by awarding nearly $1 million in MDRT member-endorsed grants to more than 100 charitable organizations worldwide.

Pathways Moves is a component of Pathway’s School Age Care (SAC) program which provides academic, social, emotional and recreational activities after school, during school vacations, and in the summer. Pathways Moves is designed to encourage students to develop an appreciation for physical activity and to understand the important role it plays in living a healthy and happy life. The SAC program participates in activities such as wall climbing, yoga, Zumba, and other physical activities as well as nutrition education. The program is designed to improve students’ physical health, nutrition and self-esteem.

Derek Reed, CFP, CLU of Beauport Financial and former Pathways Board Member, represented MDRT Foundation as he presented this grant to Pathways for Children at their annual Appreciation Breakfast.

“We are so grateful to the MDRT Foundation for supporting Pathways Moves. This grant not only encourages children to participate in fun, healthy activities, it also establishes an understanding of the importance of a healthy lifestyle at a young age, which the children will carry with them throughout their lives,” said Sue Todd, President and CEO of Pathways for Children.
