With the new year, Pathways is ushering in a new era of leadership. We are excited to announce Eric Mitchell as President and CEO, effective as of the first day of the year.
No stranger to Pathways, Eric joined in 2017 as Vice President and Chief Operations Officer (COO). He brings more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles across not-for-profit agencies focusing on at-risk children and families. Prior to Pathways for Children, Eric was the Deputy Field Director at Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), which serves more than 100,000 low-income people in Boston and the Mystic Valley annually.
“I am pleased that the board unanimously selected Eric Mitchell to become President and CEO,” said Thomas Zarrella, Pathways for Children’s Chairman of the Board. “I have a great deal of respect and appreciation for the work Eric has brought to Pathways already, and am confident in his ability to lead the organization to new heights in the future.”
Pathways for Children’s previous President & CEO, Sue Todd, retired after forty years with the organization, with 34 of those years at the helm. The leadership transition was announced in February of 2020, providing ample time for a smooth transfer of power.
What’s next for Pathways? “Our plan is to build on the foundation of Pathways for Children, to bring our services to more places and to make them available to more families,” says Eric. “There are 34 cities and towns in Essex County and we want the families in each of these areas to be familiar with Pathways and take advantage of all that we offer.”
We are excited for the future of Pathways and are looking forward to sharing it with you all.
