Our Parent Mentors would love to help.
Our Parent Mentors are community volunteers who are caring, nonjudgmental, and trustworthy and will work with you to help provide the stepping stones to self-sufficiency and self-confidence.
Parent Mentees come from a wide-range of circumstances, but many are:
Parents who are socially and emotionally isolated
Parents who are experiencing a temporary crisis
Mothers and fathers who desire support enhancing their parenting skills
An expectant parent who lacks familial or peer support
A newly single parent who could benefit from a supportive relationship and connections to other networks
Parent Mentees participate by returning phone calls, keeping appointments, engaging in goal setting.

FAQs
+ What do Parent Mentors do?
- Provide a friendly, supportive, consistent presence in the life of a parent for one year through weekly visits, telephone contacts, and by introducing them to activities, resources, and/or networks that will reduce their isolation and provide additional opportunities.
- Listen and learn from the parent without being judgmental or directive.
- Introduce parents to positive communication, realistic, age-appropriate expectations of their children, and positive disciplinary techniques through weekly conversations and community parent education/support group opportunities.
- Actively participate in monthly group supervision meetings and contact staff support as needed.
+ What do I have to do as a Parent Mentee?
Agree to work with a Mentor and demonstrate their ability to participate by returning phone calls, keeping appointments, engaging in goal setting.
Participation in the program is strictly voluntary.
+ Are there Parent Mentors who speak in languages other than English?
Yes! There are Spanish speaking Parent Mentors available. And we are actively looking for Parent mentors who speak other languages.
